Public Artworks

Public art can take various forms, from 2D wall murals and 3D sculptures to performative and ephemeral manifestations of an artist's creative process.

More importantly, the conception and premise of the artwork is rooted deeply in the public sphere, where it is widely visible and freely accessible to all.

URBAN PEOPLE

URBAN PEOPLE
Material: Aluminium Location: ION Orchard Duration: Permanent Collection: CapitaLand Limited Dimensions: Dimensions variable
Specially commissioned for ION Orchard, this set of six caricatured urbanite each in a bright colour – red, green, purple, lime, rose and purple – adds much vibrancy to the steps in front of one of the entrances to the mall. The sculptures invite the passersbys or shoppers to interact with them, be it holding their hands or putting an arm around them to take a picture.

Notice the woman in purple carrying a silver shopping bag with an ION Orchard logo. The man in red reading a newspaper also carries a feature on the mall.
