Public Artworks

Public art can take various forms, from 2D wall murals and 3D sculptures to performative and ephemeral manifestations of an artist's creative process.

More importantly, the conception and premise of the artwork is rooted deeply in the public sphere, where it is widely visible and freely accessible to all.

DRAGONFLY RIDERS

Dragonfly_Riders
Material: Stainless steel, art glass Location: Gardens by the Bay (Dragonfly Bridge / Colonial Garden) Duration: Permanent Collection: Gardens by the Bay Dimensions: 2 pieces, up to 5m x 3m each
A landmark within the tranquil Dragonfly Lake, these magnificent giant dragonflies sculptures feature casts of children riding on the creatures' backs. The laser-cut mesh pattern used on the wings of the dragonflies encases colourful art glass. Their eyes - blue in one sculpture and red in the other - are made of hand-blown glass flecked with gold. A touch of human warmth amidst the grandiose garden, this sculpture of the child riders is an ode to the joys of childhood.
