Public Artworks

Public art can take various forms, from 2D wall murals and 3D sculptures to performative and ephemeral manifestations of an artist's creative process.

More importantly, the conception and premise of the artwork is rooted deeply in the public sphere, where it is widely visible and freely accessible to all.

The Chinese idiom “上善若水”, literally means "Supreme goodness is like water" refers to: being a human being is like water, able to adapt to any environment and accommodate all things, but itself is very pure. The water is soft and formable; in the ocean, it is the shape of the ocean, and in the bottle, it is the shape of the bottle. It flows continuously, to benefit all things without asking for anything in return. This kind of virtue is the virtue of the highest good.

Taking reference from the Chinese calligraphy cursive script, Chua studied, redesigned the strokes and interpreted this Chinese character “水” Water into a 3-Dimensional work using one continuous stroke, an addition to his signature Chinese Calligraphy Sculpture Series.
