Public art in Singapore - Discover art beyond the gallery

Art in Singapore extends beyond galleries and museums – it lives on walls, in parks, and along the streets you pass every day, shaping the character of our shared spaces and the stories we tell about them.
Guided by a vision to make Singapore a canvas for the arts, NAC is committed to integrating art meaningfully into public spaces across the island. Through commissioned artworks, self-guided trails, and other initiatives, we invite you to see the everyday places around you in a new light — and to discover how public art shapes the identity of our neighbourhoods and deepens our collective sense of belonging.

Public art takes many forms — from murals and sculptures to site-specific installations – woven into the public spaces where people live, work, and gather. Each work carries its own story, contributing to the identity and character of the places we share.

As You Were is a series of public art installations that stem from reflections prompted by the pandemic and of future aspirations as the world moves forward to embrace the endemic. The five public art installations echo the artists’ responses to hope, recovery, and transformation. Curated as creative interventions within the lush greenery of the three parks – Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Jurong Lake Gardens, and Punggol Waterway Park, the artworks aim to engage and elevate the spirits of the visitors.
