Objectives
* To engage the students' imagination and
kindle creativity through the oral tradition
of storytelling.
* To develop the students' listening skills.
* To promote understanding of different cultures.
Synopsis of Performance / Outline of workshop
Each programme will be specially tailored to the size and age of the audience. A variety of stories will be told, some traditional, some modern, some using props or audience participation, others using only the magic of the storyteller's voice to draw the students into the world of story.
Stories from Asia and beyond will be used to promote understanding of other cultures and an awarenesss of the similarities between the peoples of the world.
Performances can be themed for occasions such as Total Defence Day,International Friendship Day,Racial Harmony Day, National Day, local Festivals and other school celebrations such as Book Week.
Highlights students can expect from Programme
Everyone loves a good story. The storyteller will weave a web of delight, transporting the students from their everyday world into the world of story. With imaginations activated, the students will live the story in their minds and hearts, an experience that is both joyful and intellectually stimulating.
At the end of the programme students will learn to / understand
