Singapore Art Week 2025 - Open Call for Proposals

National Arts Council (NAC) invites Singapore-based artists, curators, producers, collectives, and organisations to submit proposals for the 13th edition of Singapore Art Week (SAW) to be held from 17—26 January 2025.
Open Call for Proposals
The SAW 2025 Open Call welcomes interdisciplinary and participatory projects foreground collaborations between artists, disciplines, artists, and their public, as well as artists and the environment.
Projects can take on one of the following formats – (a) exhibitions, (b) performances, (c) screenings, (d) temporary outdoor artwork installations, (e) guided tours and (f) talks, lectures, and workshops.
Applicants can also propose other formats of presentation as they deem fit for their projects.
- Proposals should also focus on at least one of the following programming priorities:
- Proposals that align and advocates the three key strategic thrusts from Arts Plan 2.0 (Distinctive City, Creative Economy, Connected Society);
- Proposals that present artworks/programmes previously never presented in Singapore;
- Proposals that present intergenerational collaborations and/or artistic exchanges between local and foreign art communities;
- Proposals that highlight young curators, emerging artists, and/or artistic legacies (i.e. Singapore’s Cultural Medallion artists);
- Proposals that present art in unexpected and non-conventional spaces that offer audiences unique art experiences;
- Proposals that demonstrate a reinvention and/or expansion of visual culture in Singapore;
- Proposals that employ a meaningful and innovative use of technology as a medium for artmaking (e.g. digital art, music/sound presentations, VR/AR technologies), and/or a tool for audience outreach and engagement (e.g. virtual experiences, online programmes); and
- Proposals that build new audiences for visual arts (e.g. families with children, young audiences, seniors).

How to apply
Interested applicants are required to fill up an electronic application form via FormSG and submit the following required supporting documents (as stated in the brief) via Dropbox by 31 May 2024 (Fri), 6pm.

Briefing Sessions
We encourage interested parties to attend briefing sessions conducted by the SAW team to learn more about Singapore Art Week and the Open Call. There will be time allocated for Q&As, should you have any queries to clarify.
These sessions will take place on:
1) 3 May 2024 (Fri), 7pm
2) 17 May 2024 (Fri), 7pm

General Guidelines
- Applicants are wholly responsible for ensuring that all components of the application are received by the National Arts Council (NAC) before the application deadline. NAC will not be able to accord any extension beyond this deadline.
- SAW's funding support varies by project type and applicant. All projects are evaluated by a panel and the amount of funding received by successful projects is dependent upon an evaluation score. Successful projects may receive funding of up to S$40,000.
- Proposals that involve collaborations with foreigners are eligible as long as the lead applicant(s) is a Singaporean Citizen or Permanent Resident (PR) based in Singapore and that at least half (50%) of the artistic team and artist(s) comprises of Singaporeans or Permanent Residents.
- Successful applicants are required to have their projects open to the public by 17th January 2025. Projects must be presented for the entire duration of Singapore Art Week 2025 (17—26th January 2025). The project’s Start Date may also begin before 17 January 2025 and its End Date may extend beyond 26 January 2025.
- Applicants are required to include the proposed venue and complete list of artists/artworks to allow for a more holistic assessment of the proposals. Should artwork images be unavailable at the point of application, applicants are required to submit preparatory drawings/visuals.
- Applicants should not include open calls in their proposals as a complete list of artists/artworks is required for evaluation.
