The National Arts Council (NAC)’s Major Company Scheme supports the professional and artistic development of registered arts organisations that represent excellence in their core mission. The current Scheme is intended to strengthen an arts organisation’s capabilities in artistic and programme excellence, and organisational capacity, based on a three-year funding cycle, subject to an annual review.
With developments in Singapore’s arts scene and an evolving arts landscape, including changes accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that NAC’s policies stay relevant to cater to the sector’s needs. NAC remains committed to supporting the arts and is actively working on a holistic funding review to develop schemes that better align with the goals and priorities in the next iteration of Our SG Arts Plan for 2023-2027. These funding schemes will be designed to support a wider range of organisations and projects, which may include emerging companies and independent artists looking to build capabilities, explore innovation, as well as embark on transformation efforts.
As part of this review, the FY24 Major Company application cycle will be on hold pending the review, and not open for application. NAC will sustain support for existing Major Companies and other key arts organisations while reviewing our funding strategies and schemes.
Artists and arts organisations may continue to submit their grant applications through our existing schemes. Our range of schemes provides funding and include varied support for artists and arts organisations. This includes the Sustain the Arts (stART) Fund, which aims to boost the organisational capabilities of arts groups and support impactful programmes that add to Singapore’s diverse arts landscape.
