The NAC Cultural Fellowship was set up to recognise and develop outstanding individuals who have shown potential and commitment to be able to take on greater roles as cultural leaders and advocates, and make a positive difference in Singapore's arts and cultural sector. Nurturing our cultural leaders and advocates is necessary and timely because:

  • Fresh perspectives, innovative thinking, strong advocacy, and a collaborative spirit are all needed to address issues in an increasingly complex environment as our scene evolves; and

  • Existing collective ideas, experiences and networks developed by arts professionals, whose careers have grown with the scene, could be expanded and built upon.

It is envisaged that recipients of the Fellowship will continuously seek innovative practices to drive the sector as a community of leaders, contribute to cultural policy discourse, and extend their spheres of influence to advocate the value and importance of the arts to society. In time, it is hoped that recipients of the Fellowship will take on mentoring roles and guide future change agents in the arts.

The recipients of the inaugural Cultural Fellowship in 2013 are:

  • Ms Audrey Wong

  • Ms Goh Su Lin

  • Mr Kok Heng Luen

  • Ms Natalie Hennedige

  • Mr Noor Effendy Ibrahim

  • Mr Quek Ling Kong
