Organised by the Visual Arts Development Association (VADA), with support from the National Arts Council (NAC)


This curatorial development mentorship and training programme is targeted at emerging curators and requires the participant to devise 6 to 8 exhibitions or projects over a 24-month period. With guidance from the two mentors (June Yap as curatorial mentor and Benjamin Hampe as arts management mentor), the participant is expected to oversee all aspects of their exhibition programme including research, studio visits and artist management, curatorial essay writing, and additional educational programming as required.


The programme centres on practical experience and outcomes for curatorial practice. VADA will provide gallery space/s to realise the exhibition programme, gallery staff to assist with project management and marketing, and a modest budget to cover in-gallery exhibition costs. The selected participant will receive a curatorial fee of SGD$10,000. 



The applicant must:

  • Be a Singaporean/ Permanent Resident

  • Be an emerging curator within five years of professional practice

  • Represent himself and not be part of a partnership, group, collective, or organisation



The successful applicant should:

  • Have previous experience/existing engagement in developing an innovative and or culturally significant arts career

  • Be able to describe and achieve skills and knowledge the applicant hopes to gain through the mentorship

  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing a sustainable career in the arts
