SILVER ARTS

Silver Arts advocates the meaningful possibilities seniors have in the arts.  Organised by the National Arts Council since 2012, Silver Arts is an annual Festival that highlights the significance of arts engagement in enhancing the well-being of seniors and people around them. Through learning a new skill, sharing their stories and co-creating art with artists, seniors can (re)discover their talent, deepen family bonds and form new social connections within the community.

SILVER ARTS 2021

Celebrate the 10th edition of Silver Arts with us from September to December 2021! Themed “TENacity”, this year’s hybrid edition of the Festival forefronts the messages of hope and continued possibilities, exemplified by seniors and the arts community in these difficult times.

From multicultural performances and activities in English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil and Chinese dialects, we hope you enjoyed the diverse and engaging line-up of programmes live at various arts venues, or online from the comforts of your own homes. For a quick recap of the physical programmes, please click here and here for the digital programmes.

You can now continue to enjoy the physical (ticketed) programmes online on NAC Facebook (click here)!

Watch a humorous dialogue about death and farewells in The ETCeteras’ Mandarin play Curtain Call (后会无期) and indulge in fan-favourite repertoire of songs in Toy Factory Productions Ltd’s Old Songs of Redhill Market (红山脚下的歌谣);  Wadah Seni Entertainment’s Keroncong Asmara (Romantic Keroncong) as well as Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra’s (ACSO) Evergreen Symphonic Jukebox.

That’s not all! Groove to evergreen tunes from the 40s in SwingOUT Party by City Swing Big Band, reminisce the golden age of Malay films with Gambar Kegemaran, serenade loved ones with songs of yesteryear in Oldies but Goodies (黄金今曲) and join an intergenerational jam session to the tunes of the 60s and 70s in Music Hall: That’s My Jam by Broadband.

All videos will be gradually released throughout October and will remain available till 31 December 2021. Relive our digital programmes from the comfort of your homes and share them with your friends and family too!

EXHIBITIONS

The Silver Arts Exhibition will present exciting new works by seniors from four unique community arts projects (CAP) that took place earlier this year. These artist-led projects are designed to bring seniors from various communities together to contribute their own experiences and creativity to the art-making process. Seniors are empowered to share perspectives from their diverse backgrounds, creating a unique experience that bonds them and deepens their understanding and appreciation of the arts.

The Exhibition is a culmination of the creative journey the seniors took, and the artists and seniors invite you to have a glimpse into the stories shared and bonds formed through the displayed works.

View the exhibition online or visit in person at three libraries (click here to find out more).
