Building Management and Governance Capabilities for Arts Organisations
Our established arts organisations play a pivotal role in the Singapore arts scene as leaders and role models to aspiring arts groups and collectives looking to professionalise their operations. Besides achieving artistic excellence in programmes and engaging audiences, having sound governance and strong administrative knowledge and skills are critical in sustaining an arts organisation. To build a strong and robust arts ecosystem, the National Arts Council (NAC) works with partners to provide training opportunities to strengthen management and governance capabilities. Past programmes include Lead the Way, a collaboration between NAC and the British Council aimed at Executive Directors or General Managers of arts organisations to cultivate industry leaders. Beyond NAC, several courses for the Non-Profit sector are also available by other training providers such as the Social Service Institute and NTUC LearningHub, and these are highly subsidised by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
