The Internationale Tanzmesse NRW hosts the largest professional gathering dedicated exclusively to contemporary dance. This platform takes place once every two years in Dusseldorf, Germany, and this year it spans across 4 days, from 31 August to 3 September 2016.

We aim to establish a visible Singapore presence at Tanzmesse and to collectively raise international awareness of Singapore’s dance artists and companies, while providing a stepping stone for conversations, connections and dialogues at Tanzmesse, in order to breed new collaborative projects and exchanges between Singapore and the world. We also take pride in supporting local artists’ international endeavours.

The Council is supporting a 14-member Singapore delegation to Tanzmesse made up of company Artistic Directors, independent artists and producers, and led by Director of Sector Development (Dance and Traditional Arts), Ms Elaine Ng. This is also the first time that Singapore works have been selected by Tanzmesse for showcase and four artists, Choy Ka Fai, Daniel Kok, Elysa Wendi and Jereh Leong will be presenting their works.

Singapore will also have a booth at Tanzmesse’s exhibition pavilion, to collectively showcase the multi-faceted dance landscape of Singapore.

Specific country networking meetings have also been arranged for the Singapore delegates to facilitate sharing, exchanges and potential collaborations.

Singapore will also host a networking reception for all Tanzmesse delegates on 31 August 2016.
