Updates for Singapore Arts Festival 2004

Festival Update

The Singapore Arts Festival 2004 is barely past its first week of its current season but the National Arts Council is pleased to announce that several shows have already sold out. The latest is the additional matinee performance by the Soweto Gospel Choir, which has seen all tickets being snapped up within days. The Choir’s original two shows on 4 and 5 June had sold out earlier.

Tomorrow evening’s only performance of Colourful Yunnan by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra at the Singapore Conference Hall is also sold out.

In addition, 9 of the 24 shows for Morphia Series by Helen Herbertson and Ben Cobham are also sold out. Created for 12 spectators, this 18-minute show at the Esplanade Theatre Studio combines text, sound, image and dance.

Last weekend, performances for the China Blue Sky Modern Drama Troupe and Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s Mahler’s Symphony of a Thousand also played to full houses on both nights. Shows for the children also saw good response from the public. Kidsfest, which stretched over five days (29 May to 2 June), saw seven of its 15 shows selling out.

With tickets for shows selling well, patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment.
