“…inspired by old quintessence of the ‘genre’, refurbished by post-punk rebellion.” - El Mundo, Spain
“This music that caught so many people’s imaginations and made them dance revisits the gypsy folk music of the Balkans.” - The Daily Star, UK
Multi-talented musician Goran Bregovic and his 13-member band stirs up a irresistible urge to dance wherever he performs. A one-time mountain climber, yacht sailor and president of a boxing club, Bregovic has moved and captivated audiences throughout Europe with his unusual brand of lively music from the Balkans.
A former rock music idol in the 1970s and 1980s in communist Yugoslavia, Bregovic captured the imagination of the European public with his unique blend of brassy gypsy tunes with a touch of rock and roll. He draws his inspiration for his music from the rich culture and sounds from ethnic East European heritage, to express the joys and passion of humanity.
Bregovic is known internationally for composing the scores to films by award-winning director Emir Kusturica such as Time of the Gypsies and Arizona Dream. He has also collaborated and performed with some of the best known singers today such as Iggy Pop and Cesaria Evora.
Having performed extensively throughout Europe and South America, Bregovic brings his charisma and his band’s mesmerizing tunes to Asia. For Singapore, he will perform songs from music albums recorded over two decades, including his popular “Tales & Songs from Weddings and Funerals”, and film scores to the Kusturica films and others.
