- Village Voice, USA

Have fun with new music!  Bang on a Can All-Stars, a six-piece New York-based ensemble, will show you how with their brand of avant-garde, acoustic rhythms that break free of classical, rock or jazz conventions.

Formed in 1987 by composers and artistic directors Michael Gordon, David Lang and Julia Wolfe, Bang on a Can walks a tightrope balance in fusing the quintessence of these different genres into one highly explosive act.  Known worldwide for their dynamic and explosive live performances, the ensemble has collaborated and performed live with composers such as Philip Glass and Meredith Monk.

From their repertoire by some of the best known living and emerging composers and ensembles, Bang on a Can will perform pieces by its founders, as well as their groundbreaking interpretations of music by minimalist master Phillip Glass and Tan Dun.  Their debut performance in Singapore promises to be an intense, unstoppable one that will lead audiences to rediscover music.

Bang on a Can will also deliver a talk-cum-demonstration of their music and performance style on 10 June, 1pm – 2 pm at the Victoria Concert Hall.  The event is free and open to the public.
