An event under the NAC-Shell Community Arts Series

 15 & 16 February 2003 (Sat & Sun)

 Time:  5:00pm to 9:30pm
Venue:  Toa Payoh Town Centre Amphitheatre (in front of Toa Payoh Community Library)

Long to have an arts festival over a weekend in your neighbourhood? With the return of Arts Inc.II for the second time to Toa Payoh Town Centre, the community can look forward to a whole weekend filled with exciting performances and interactive workshops and demonstrations that promise to be both fun and entertaining for the whole family.

The public can feast on a series of performances by professional and amateur artists, including school groups. Among the highlights is a rendition of fresh, intelligent, modern and versatile jazz music performed by Finnish group Joona Toivanen Trio. The MIME Unlimited company will be putting up The Seven Chinese Brothers, a story of seven brothers who walked, talked, and looked alike and possessed amazing powers, while Deyi Secondary School Dance Ensemble will present a creative and explosive dance performance Synergy.

Fun is what you get at the Fun Factory where there will be workshops on ceramic tile painting, batik painting, pop-up cards making and the creation of recycled art and children’s craft. So come on down and Do-It-Yourself!

In the Action Factory, treat yourself to a wide variety of demonstrations of face painting, caricature, henna painting, portrait sketching and nail art. Magic show, juggling and balloon sculpturing are also a draw here.

Arts Inc.II returns as part of the NAC-Shell Community Arts Series which is organised by the National Arts Council with the aim of bringing the arts to the heartlands. Besides giving a chance for the professional groups to reach out to the community, the event also provides a platform for amateur groups and school arts groups to perform in public. Arts Inc.II is sponsored by Shell Companies in Singapore with the support of Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council and Passion 99.5FM.
