Noise Singapore Talents Perform For Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games
INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM FOR YOUNG LOCAL TALENT NOISE SINGAPORE TALENTS PERFORM FOR SINGAPORE 2010 YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES
4 August 2010 - In partnership with the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games, Noise Singapore will be showcasing local talents around the city from 14 to 26 August 2010. Music performances and artwork showcases will enliven the city during the Youth Olympic Games in locations such as *SCAPE Youth Park, Bugis Junction, ION Orchard and Raffles Place. Exclusive roving performances at the Youth Olympic Village will add some noise to the exciting atmosphere. Local talents from Noise Singapore, such as MONOCHROME, Blind Meets Mute and Celina Foo will be performing to an international audience, displaying the artsy side of Singaporean youth to the world.
Mr Goh Kee Nguan, Chief Executive of the Singapore 2010 Youth Oympic Games Organising Committee says, “The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games integrates Sports competition with a Culture and Education Programme (CEP). The CEP will be a great opportunity for Singapore to give due recognition to our young artists on an international stage. As a leading youth arts festival, Noise Singapore is an ideal partner for us to foster greater cultural exchange with our guests from all over the world while showcasing our vibrant youth culture. We would therefore like to encourage our artists and musicians to join us in this exciting event.”
Artwork showcases, in the concept of a creative living space, will include well-rated works from the past two editions of Noise Singapore in 2009 and 2010. In addition, the public can spot artworks and photographs created by Noise artists at 90 bus-stops across Singapore during the Games period as part of the festival’s city-wide visual showcase. Audiences will also have the chance to get hold of a double-CD album featuring original music by the best Noise musicians. An art bazaar at Marina Square, known as the “Noise Market Square”, will feature handmade items such as bags, shoes and accessories by young people in Singapore. Come down and join in the fun – catch your favourite artists performing live, and bring home a one-of-a-kind artwork to call your own!

About Noise Singapore
An initiative of the National Arts Council, Noise Singapore is a youth arts festival dedicated to creating noise about the creative talents of youths aged 35 and below. Through numerous platforms designed to give youths opportunities to express, develop and showcase their creativity, Noise hopes to encourage young people in Singapore to actively participate and nurture their relationship with the arts, as well as get them spotted for their budding abilities. Since 2005, hundreds of youths have benefited from Noise Singapore’s apprenticeship programme, workshops and talks, as well as exhibitions and concerts that feature their creative works.
