SINGAPORE, 2 September 2015 – The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) has appointed eight new Council members in addition to re-appointing 11 current Council members to the National Arts Council (NAC) for a two-year term, with effect from 1 September 2015 to 31 August 2017. Along with their deep interest in the arts, these members from the people, private and public sectors will bring to the NAC their valuable experience, ranging from urban planning to social services, finance and the media. The 19-member Board will be led by incumbent Chairman Professor Chan Heng Chee.

4          MCCY and the NAC would like to thank outgoing members Mr Edward Chia, Ms Koh Lin-Net, Ms Lian Pek, Mr Vinod Kumar and Mr Yeoh Oon Jin for their valuable time and contributions to the NAC. Their expertise and experience have provided invaluable perspectives to the Council’s policies and programmes.


5          Council members are drawn from different sectors, including the arts. The Council guides the work of the NAC in the development and promotion of arts and culture in Singapore and abroad. In particular, the Council oversees matters of corporate and financial governance, and advises the management of the NAC on its strategic priorities and the planning of major arts initiatives that will impact the arts scene and bring value through the arts to Singaporeans.
