Launch of Sing Singapore 2003

Launch of Sing Singapore 2003

Four talented Singaporeans Kevin Quah, Muzi, L. Vijayandran and Hamid Razak made important contribution to this year’s Sing Singapore 2003 theme song, A Place in My Heart.  The song is the main tool used to accomplish Sing Singapore’s objective to promote national bonding through group singing of community songs.

Sing Singapore was introduced in 1988 with the aim to discover and promote original songs written by Singaporeans. The event’s slogan – “Lift Your Voices, Lift Your Hearts” encourages Singaporeans to embrace singing and enjoy its benefits to enrich their lives. It also hopes to develop Singaporeans’ love for music and singing and cultivate a sense of togetherness.

A Place in My Heart was composed by Kevin Quah, who also wrote its English lyrics. Muzi penned the Mandarin lyrics, while the Tamil and Malay lyrics were done by L.  Vijayandran and Hamid Razak respectively.

For the first time ever, the Sing Singapore theme song will be launched in 4 official languages at one go. This is a unique feature of this year’s Sing Singapore.

The recording of the song A Place in My Heart features Sean Wong, who sings both the English and Mandarin versions. The Malay and Tamil versions are sung by their respective lyricists, Hamid Razak and L. Vijayandran.
