Keppel partners NAC for Singapore’s first sustainable subsidised ticket purchasing scheme to benefit audiences

 

24 July 2008Singapore - Keppel Corporation and the National Arts Council (NAC) are jointly launching Singapore’s first sustained subsidised ticket purchasing scheme to benefit and cultivate audiences for the arts.

 

To be branded as Keppel Nights, this innovative arts advocacy initiative is part of Keppel Corporation’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme to celebrate its  40th Anniversary in August this year.

 

With the $250,000 cash contribution from Keppel, the year-long scheme allows patrons to purchase tickets of pre-selected performances at half price.

 

The inaugural show of the series of Keppel Nights is marked by Keppel Corporation’s 40thAnniversary Concert performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra on       19 August 2008. The Concert will premiere a symphony that Keppel has commissioned specially for its anniversary.

 

Mr Teo Soon Hoe, Senior Executive Director and Group Finance Director of Keppel Corporation, said, “A long-term supporter of the arts, Keppel is delighted to work with NAC on this innovative scheme to make the arts more accessible to students, heartlanders, senior citizens and their families over a year.

 

“Even as Keppel celebrates 40 years of growing along with Singapore, we want to continue to nurture and engage the community and through this initiative, help make the arts an integral part of our lives.”

In addition, arts groups will also be able to sell more tickets and reach out to a wider audience."

 

Some upcoming shows selected include Singapore Lyric Opera’s Puccini’s Turandot, The Ming Hwa Yuan Taiwanese Opera Company’s Moonfest 2008 –The Immortal of Penglai, Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s Suddenly Last Summer and Singapore Repertory Theatre’s BOOM.
