New Series At Community Clubs Featuring Young Talents

As part of the National Arts Council's ongoing efforts to bring the arts closer to people and people closer to the arts, the Council has launched a new series at Community Clubs featuring young talents in music and the visual arts called 'Strike Up A Tune!'

The district-based series will showcase and provide a performing & exhibition platform for young talents, giving them an exciting opportunity to show off their talents. For the public, the series will generate greater appreciation and awareness of the artistic talents of their community. This first installment of Strike Up a Tune! begins with the South East District of Singapore with events in Changi Simei Community Club (CC) and Braddell Heights Community Club. At Changi Simei CC, audiences can expect to see performances from primary schools while Braddell Heights CC will feature secondary schools and a Junior College. Award-winning young talents at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) and National Music Competitions will also be performing in the concerts.

Each event of the series will have 3 components. An instrumental segment (non-competitive), Competitive Performances and Competitive Exhibitions. The competitive segments will allow participants to vie for "Most Creative Performing Item" & "Most Creative Exhibition Display" where cash & other prizes will be awarded to the winning schools.  Through the competitions, the new series aims to motivate the young to display their artistic talents and achieve higher standards in the arts.

The above event is organised by the National Arts Council in partnership with Changi Simei CC and Braddell Heights CC, and is supported by Passion 99.5FM.
