Following four days of intense competition involving 121 budding musicians, the National Arts Council is pleased to announce the winners of the 2006 National Indian Music Competition.

The winners received prizes from Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, 2nd Minister of Information, Communications and the Arts at a prize presentation ceremony held this evening. The top three winners of each category for both solo and ensemble sections received trophies and cash prizes ranging from $300 to $1200. Honourable mentions of $100 were also awarded to deserving finalists. All participants were given certificates. Total cash prizes for this year’s competition amounted to $27,500, a 14% increase from the 2004 competition.
