2004 Scholarships & Bursaries Open For Applications
The National Arts Council (NAC) is pleased to invite applications for its scholarships & bursaries this year. The schemes provide full or partial funding for arts students and artists to receive training in Singapore and abroad.
Last year, financial assistance totalling $1 million was disbursed to 79 arts practitioners and arts students. The Council’s scholarships and bursaries are available for training in the performing, visual and literary arts, as well as in areas of arts management and technical production. The top scholarship recipients last year were Brian Gothong Tan (Visual Arts), Patricia Toh (Theatre) and Audrey Hoo Kher Hsiu (Technical Direction).
The following are the list of schemes available.
SHELL-NAC ARTS SCHOLARSHIP (OVERSEAS)
The Scholarship is awarded to outstanding students or practicing artists to pursue full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies in visual arts (fine art courses only), performing arts or literary arts overseas.
NAC ARTS PROFESSIONAL SCHOLARSHIP (OVERSEAS)
The Scholarship provides financial assistance to outstanding arts managers, administrators and practitioners to pursue full-time overseas undergraduate or postgraduate studies in arts management, technical design and production in the arts.
CHEN CHONG SWEE ART SCHOLARSHIP (OVERSEAS)
The Scholarship was established in commemoration of the late pioneer artist Chen Chong Swee. It is awarded to promising visual artists to undertake full-time postgraduate studies or research programs overseas.
GIFTED YOUNG MUSICIANS’ BURSARY (OVERSEAS)
Sponsored by The Rosary Club of Singapore East, this Bursary is awarded to young outstanding music students, aged 18 years and below, to pursue full-time studies at pre-tertiary music institutions overseas.
NAC ARTS BURSARY (OVERSEAS)
The Bursary provides assistance to arts students to pursue full-time tertiary studies in the performing, literary and visual arts (fine art courses only), as well as arts management, technical design and production in the arts in arts institutions overseas.
GEORGETTE CHEN ARTS SCHOLARSHIP (LOCAL)
The Scholarship was established in commemoration of the late pioneer artist Georgette Chen. It provides assistance to first, second and third year arts students pursuing full-time diploma courses in theatre, dance, music, visual arts (fine art courses only) and arts management at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts or LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts.
NAC ARTS BURSARY (LOCAL)
The Bursary provides assistance to arts students pursuing full-time degree courses in theatre, dance, music, visual arts (fine art courses only) and arts management at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts or LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts taught in association with international tertiary institutions. Students undertaking the Theatre Training and Research Programme offered by the Practice Performing Arts School are also eligible.
