
MUSIC COMPETITIONS
The National Arts Council organises the National Indian Music Competition, National Chinese Music Competition, and National Piano & Violin Competition. A platform to identify potential musical talents, the Competitions also enable musicians in Singapore to develop their performing skills, raise their musical standards, and provides opportunities for musicians to perform in a competitive environment.

National Indian Music Competition
The 10th edition of the National Indian Music Competition (NIMC) has been postponed from 1-7 June 2020 to 14-20 December 2020. The National Arts Council prioritises the safety and wellbeing of the participants, hence NIMC 2020 will proceed in a digital format that will be streamed live online.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The National Indian Music Competition was first organised in 1998 by the National Arts Council. The Competition serves as a platform for music excellence. It aims to develop the performing skills of young musicians in Singapore, raise musical standards and identify new music talent. It also provides opportunities for young musicians to perform in a competitive situation before an international jury.

National Chinese Music Competition 全国华乐比赛
ABOUT THE COMPETITON
The National Chinese Music Competition was first held in 1998, after a restructure of the former National Music Competition which was organised under the auspices of the then Ministry of Culture in the 1980s.
Organised by the National Arts Council Singapore, this biennial music competition serves as a platform for music excellence. It aims to develop the performing skills of young musicians in Singapore, raise musical standards and identify new music talent. It also provides opportunities for young musicians to perform before a panel of international adjudicators.

National Piano & Violin Competition
The biennial National Piano and Violin Competition was first organised in 1997 by the National Arts Council and serves as a platform for music excellence. It aims to develop the performing skills of musicians in Singapore, improve musical standards and identify potential music talents by providing opportunities for young musicians to perform before international adjudicators.The 2015 competition was co-organised by the National Arts Council and Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
From 2017 onwards, the National Piano and Violin Competition will be organised by the Singapore Symphony Group. Registration for the 2017 National Piano and Violin Competition is now open and will close on 28 July 2017. For more information, please visit: https://www.sso.org.sg/npvc
