Digital Technologies in Performing & Live Arts
ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM
In line with the National Arts Council's efforts to nurture digitally confident and versatile artists, we are glad to partner Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay and IETM (International network for contemporary performing arts), to organise Digital Technologies in Performing & Live Arts - a symposium with IETM speakers in Singapore, on 26 November 2019 at the Esplanade Theatre Studio.
This symposium seeks to create conversations around how the digital revolution is challenging our creative practices and production, audience engagement strategies and audiences’ habits. Through a series of presentations, this symposium will be a platform for learning, debating about and experiencing various digital tools.
Joris Weijdom, researcher and designer of mixed reality experiences at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, will take you on a roller coaster ride of thought-provoking ideas and examples from the world of technology, media and theatre. Eric Joris, artistic director of the digital pioneering performing company, CREW, will create a shifting moment in between the perceived and embodied worlds of virtual reality. Finally, Vijay Mathew, co-founder of HowlRound, will introduce you to the collaborative economy applied to the arts world.
