Call for nominations for the 2019 Award is open until 31 January 2019, 6pm.
The Cultural Medallion was instituted in 1979 as an initiative of our late President, then Minister of Culture, Mr Ong Teng Cheong, to recognise individuals whose artistic excellence as well as contribution and commitment to the arts have enriched and made a distinction to Singapore’s arts and cultural landscape. The Cultural Medallion is presented by the President, Republic of Singapore and administered by the National Arts Council. To date, the Cultural Medallion has been conferred on 125 artists.
Each Cultural Medallion recipient will be able to access funds of up to $80,000, to support projects that meet the Fund's objectives. This amount could be used for a single project or multiple projects over the recipient's lifetime.
Young Artist Award
The Young Artist Award was introduced in 1992 to encourage the development of young artistic talents in Singapore. It represents Singapore's highest award for young art practitioners, aged 35 years and below in the year of the award, whose artistic achievements and commitment have distinguished them among their peers. It encourages young practitioners to continue pursuing excellence in the arts, and to look towards inspiring others. To date, the Young Artist Award has been conferred on 154 artists.
Each recipient of the Award will receive a trophy, a certificate and will be eligible for the Young Artist Award Grant of up to $20,000 that supports their future artistic pursuits and development.
