To develop arts talents and supporting personnel in the literary arts, the Council provides various financial assistance for practising writers and literary arts students to pursue training.

This grant supports the professional development of the
arts sector by providing assistance to individual artists,
arts management and production personnel to pursue short-term
training for the upgrading of their professional skills;
and arts organisations that engage arts professional or
specialised trainers to assist in the professional development
of arts practitioners.
Applications are open to:
- Individual applicants who are Singaporeans or Singapore
Permanent Residents and recognised by their peers
as professional practising artists;
- Non-profit arts organisations registered in Singapore
whose core business is related to the arts.
Note: Non-profit arts organisations must be
legally constituted for at least one year prior to the
application.
The sum total of Arts Professional Development grants
awarded to any recipient will not exceed $25,000 (up
to a maximum of two awarded applications) per financial
year.

least three months before the date of the proposed activity

This is an 18-month mentorship programme to ensure the
sustained development of young and emerging writers by
providing them with mentorship opportunities and ongoing
critical feedback. It will run from July 2009 to December 2010.
The programme invites emerging writers who wish to undergo
tutorship from an established writer / playwright. Selected
applicants will enjoy opportunities to participate in
dialogue sessions, workshops or public readings held over
the course of the mentorship, at the end of which, any
original work produced may be published through our New
Book Initiative.

This provides assistance to outstanding students or practising
artists to pursue full-time overseas undergraduate or
postgraduate studies in visual arts (fine art courses
only), performing arts, literary arts, arts management,
technical design and production in the arts. Applicants
must not have started on their course of study. Male applicants
must have completed National Service. Successful candidates
are expected to fulfill a two-year service commitment
within a 5 year period, to practise their art on a full
or part-time basis in Singapore after the completion of
their course. Grant quantum - Up to 100% of total cost
of study, maximum of $100,000.

This provides assistance to arts students to pursue full-time tertiary studies in visual arts (fine art courses only), performing and literary arts, as well as arts management, technical design & production in the arts in arts institutions overseas. The bursary is renewable annually, up to a maximum of 4 years. Grant quantum - Between $8,000 to $15,000 per year.

This provides assistance to first, second and third year arts students pursuing full-time diploma courses in theatre, dance, music, visual arts (fine art courses only) and arts management at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts or Polytechnics. Grant quantum - $2,000 per year.

This provides assistance to arts students pursuing degree and postgraduate courses in the theatre, dance, music, visual arts (fine art courses only) and arts management at local universities or the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, taught in association with international tertiary institutions. Students undertaking the Theatre Training and Research Programme offered by the Practice Performing Arts School are also eligible. The bursary is renewable annually, up to a maximum of 4 years.
N.B. Students who are eligible for MOE subsidies in the first 3 years (up to Diploma level), should apply for Georgette Chen Arts Scholarship instead as the NAC Arts Bursary (Local) will only be applicable in their final year.
Grant quantum - Between $4,000 to $8,000 per year.
