The Cultural Medallion was instituted in March 1979 as an initiative of our late President, Mr Ong Teng Cheong. The award recognises individuals who have attained artistic excellence in the fields of dance, theatre, music, literature, photography, art and as from 1997, film. It is conferred by the Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts and is administered by NAC.
