WSQ Diploma in Arts Management

New Arts Management Training Opportunity

The National Arts Council (NAC), Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and Emily Hill Institute for Creative Enterprise (EHICE) have jointly developed an arts management training programme for those keen to enhance their skills in this area.

About the programme

Participants who complete the 12-month programme will be awarded a Diploma in Arts Management (DipAM) under the WDA's Creative Industries Workforce Skills Qualification (CI WSQ) framework. Through DipAM, participants will further their skills and knowledge in areas including finance and budgeting, marketing, sponsorship and fundraising, legal basics and intellectual property, project management and arts administration systems.

A participant is expected to complete the following :

  • 12 months of on-the-job training (OJT) (in-employment participants will complete this component with their current employers; non-in-employment participants will be attached to host companies);
  • Classroom training conducted in the first 7 months of DipAM (two sessions per week);
  • Masterclasses and workshops

Who should sign up

This programme aims to meet the professional development needs of current and aspiring arts administrators and managers by equipping participants with industry-ready skills and knowledge. Participants must be currently employed in an arts organisation, or have a passion for the arts and possess about 2 years of working experience in the arts. Participants from other industries should possess at least 2 years of experience in project or event management, marketing, finance or other related work experience.

Subsidies for Participants

The course fees for DipAM is $4,200 (excluding GST). For the first edition, Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents will only pay $1,260 after a 70% course fees subsidy from WDA. In addition, Singapore citizens only pay $260 if they complete the DipAM as their first WSQ qualification, as they will be entitled to a one-time award of $1,000 under the CET Qualification Award by WDA (click for more details).

Support for Participating Arts Organisations

Arts organisations that send their staff for DipAM will be able to apply for Absentee Payroll funding if they meet the eligibility criteria by WDA (click for more details).

For arts organisations that are interested to host participants who are not in-employment with any arts companies for the 12-month OJT, NAC will provide a training allowance (capped at 80% of gross monthly salary or $1,400, whichever is lower) to help host companies defray the manpower costs.

Course Dates

The first edition of the DipAM commences on 8 May 2012. Registration has closed on 30 April 2012.
