In 2001, NAC acquired another 10 units of shophouses along Kerbau Road in Little India for Arts Housing which now form the third Arts Belt in Singapore.
Along this row of shophouses, you can find Bhaskar's Arts Academy and Sri Warisan Som Said, two of Singapore's foremost ethnic arts groups. Dramaplus Arts, Wild Rice Ltd and Spell #7, three exciting contemporary performance groups and Plastique Kinetic Worms, a contemporary art space organized and managed by artists. This particular Arts Belt is culturally diverse and art forms vary from traditional to the avant-garde. The diversity of arts groups housed here presents a good opportunity for exchange of ideas and learning from each other. The siting of an Arts Belt in Little India is also strategic as it adds to the vibrancy of the place.
