An initiative of the National Arts Council, Noise Singapore is Singapore’s
foremost youth arts festival, dedicated to creating noise about the creative
talents of youths below the age of 35 in Singapore. The festival has engaged
youths and enriched their lives, offering them unique opportunities for the past
4 years.
To reach out to the public and make Noise works more accessible
to all, Noise Singapore presents the masterpieces of youths in unconventional
manners. Instead of the usual exhibitions, Noise works will be seen and heard in
spaces like shopping malls and across media channels such as the Internet, radio
and in print, allowing them to be seen by the world and get spotted for their
creativity.
Noise Singapore also aims to unearth new talent and inspire
fresh content from youths in Singapore. With a series of workshops and concert
platforms organised to give promising Noise artists the necessary exposure and
skills, young people from all walks of life now have the opportunity to actively
participate in the arts, instead of merely being passive audiences.

This year, Noise Singapore brings even more hype and excitement to the youth
arts scene. The Noise Singapore Prize, which comes with a $5,000 grant, will be
given out for the first time to the top Noise artist in each of the open
categories (art & design, music and photography).
Young artists,
designers and photographers will have various showcase opportunities. Musicians
will not just be able to perform at exciting venues like the Esplanade but also
record one of their songs in a studio. Aspiring designers will also get the
chance receive unique internship experiences at reputable agencies.
The
only arts development program of its kind in Singapore, The Apprenticeship
Programme (TAP) has seen several apprentices go on to achieve great success year
after year and this time promises to be no different. Apprentices will undergo a
structured 7-week mentorship (2 November to 20 December 2009) under the wing of
12 big names in the creative fields.
