This year's Competition received a record of 321 entries – 215 for piano, 106 for violin. Ticket prices exclude SISTIC fee.         Finals (Artist Category) & Prize Presentation Sunday 13 December 2009, 2:00pm Victoria Concert Hall Tickets at $20   Catch the passion and excitement as the top finalists of the Artist category perform their concertos with the Singapore Festival Orchestra conducted by Maestro Chan Tze Law. Selected first prize winners from the Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories will also perform solo works.   Programme: 2:00pm Violin Finals (Artist Category) 4:15pm Piano Finals (Artist Category) 7:30pm Prize Presentation & performances by selected first prize winners from the Junior, Intermediate & Senior categories       Masterclasses Saturday 12 December 2009 YMS Arts Centre Tickets at $8 per session   The adjudicators will conduct masterclasses which are open to observers. Selected participants from the Competition will perform at the masterclasses. The schedule is as follows:   Time Piano Masterclass by 9:30am – 11:30am Rae de Lisle, New Zealand (University of Auckland) 2:00pm – 4:00pm Bryce Morrison, UK (Royal Academy of Music) 4:30pm – 6:30pm Logan Skelton, USA (University of Michigan)   Time Violin Masterclass by 9:30am – 11:30am Ning Kam, Singapore (International artist) 2:00pm – 4:00pm Dong-suk Kang, Korea (Yonsei University) 4:30pm – 6:30pm Walter Verdehr, USA (Michigan State University)         About the Competition The biennial National Piano and Violin Competition was first organised in 1997 by the National Arts Council and serves as a platform for music excellence. It aims to develop the performing skills of musicians in Singapore; to improve musical standards; and to identify potential music talents.
