Guidance to Preparing Arts Awards Nomination

Online Nominations
  1. All Cultural Medallion and Young Artist Award nominations have to be made online by 6pm, Tuesday 26 April 2011.

  2. To facilitate the filling in of the online nomination form, please gather the following information in advance:

    (A) Information of Nominator
    • e.g. NRIC number, contact details , membership in arts organisations if applicable.

    (B) Information of Nominee
    • e.g. nominee’s name in Chinese characters if applicable, NRIC number, contact details, date of birth, year of previous nomination if applicable, highest arts training/qualification received, membership in arts organisations if applicable, photo of nominee.

    (C) Basis of Nomination
    • A 100-word paragraph highlighting the rationale of nomination.
    • Descriptive evaluation of nominee’s artistic achievements, highlighting significant works and performances. Include English translations where relevant.
    • Attachment of nominee’s CV in no more than 1024 kb
      • List significant art activities – indicate year, place and country
      • List awards and/or commendations received – indicate nature of award, year and name of conferring organisation
      • Other supporting documents (optional)

  3. Print and submit a copy of the completed nomination form with Section D - Declaration signed by both nominator and nominee, alongside portfolios and supporting documents of the nominee to the National Arts Council at the following address:

  4. Portfolios and supporting documents postmarked or received by hand later than 6pm, Friday 6 May 2011, will not be considered.


Portfolio Guidelines
  1. Submitted portfolio should include recent works, i.e. works created within the past one year. It should be limited to 2 sets of your best works.
     
  2. Submitted portfolio should be presented in the following format:

    Performing Arts
    • CDs / DVDs or VCDs
    • In the case of composers and conductors, copies of music compositions and CDs / DVDs or VCDs showing conducting of performances respectively are necessary.

    Visual Arts
    • DVDs or VCDs of digitised photographs / digitised exhibition catalogues

    Literary Arts
    • Published works

    Film
    • DVDs / VCDs

    Note: Applicants are advised to submit ONLY excerpts or footages of their best works (music compositions, performances, photographs, films etc.) and compile them into ONE single disc in either DVD or VCD format. For published works, please also provide excerpts of the works in hardcopy.

  3. Please submit press reviews, articles, letters of support and any other documents that would assist in the assessment.
     
  4. Materials submitted will be ready for collection in November 2011 after the Arts Awards Presentation Ceremony.
