NAC Arts Education Programme

The Tote Board Arts Grant for Schools

The Tote Board Arts Grant was introduced in 1995 to encourage the development of a vibrant arts culture in schools and promote arts appreciation among students. It subsidises schools' purchase of quality arts education programmes.

Programmes under the NAC-Arts Education Programme are eligible for the Tote Board Arts Grant subsidy. Selection and assessment of arts education programmes are conducted by a panel of arts and education experts, principals and officials from the Ministry of Education and the National Arts Council.

All programmes under the NAC-Arts Education Programme are published in the Programme directory.

The Tote Board Arts Grant offers an annual grant of:

  • $3,000 to all Special Education Schools
  • $10,000 per ITE institute and $50,000 per ITE regional campus
  • $15,000 to all Primary and Secondary Schools (government, government-aided, independent and specialised independent schools), Junior Colleges, Centralised Institute.

The Grant operates under a co-payment scheme:
  • All Primary and Secondary schools, JCs/CI and ITEs can use the Arts Grant to subsidise up to 50% of the cost of purchasing arts programmes. The remaining 50% of the cost will be covered by the school.
  • All Special Education schools can use the Arts Grant to subsidise up to 70% of the cost of purchasing arts programmes. The remaining 30% of the cost will be covered by the school.

The Tote Board Arts Grant can be used to subsidise the purchase of local and foreign programmes. However only up to 40% of the total Arts Grant can be used to subsidise the purchase of arts programmes by foreign arts groups accepted by the NAC-AEP (e.g. $20,000 out of $50,000 for Institutes of Technical Education).
